Peer Review Process

Publication Process for Organism Papers
  • 1. Receive Paper from Potential Author
    • Record the date the paper was received.
    • Assign a unique code number to the paper.
  • 2. Send Acknowledgment Letter
    • Within two weeks, send a letter to the author acknowledging the receipt of the paper and informing them that it is being processed.
  • 3. Send Paper to Referees for Review
    • Record the date the paper was sent for review.
    • The review process should not take longer than two months.
  • 4. Review Follow-up
    • If the paper has not been reviewed within two months, contact the reviewer for an update.
  • 5. Review Results
    • After the paper has been reviewed, show the results to the Editor or Manager.
  • 6. Return Paper to Author
    • Provide the paper to the author with comments from the review.
    • Request that necessary changes be made within two weeks and that an updated document file be sent.
  • 7. English Review
    • Send the paper to the Editor for English review.
    • Once returned within two weeks, make corrections and typeset the paper as an x.doc file.
  • 8. Associate Editors Check
    • Send the x.doc file to Associate Editors for checking compliance with Organism’s Notes for Authors.
    • This should require a few days per paper.
  • 9. Convert to PDF
    • Once received back from Associate Editors, convert the x.doc file into a PDF file.
  • 10. Send PDF for Final Corrections
    • Send the PDF file along with a standard email to the authors for final corrections.
    • Allow a response time for their comments.
  • 11. Make Final Changes
    • Make necessary changes to the x.doc file based on author comments.
  • 12. Prepare PDF for Publication
    • When page numbers are known, prepare a PDF file of the paper for publication on the Organism home page.
  • 13. Publication on Organism Home Page
